Epcot Celebrates 35 Years!

On Sunday, October 1 Epcot will be celebrating its 35th anniversary!

The Food & Wine festival has 35 marketplaces in honor of the anniversary, and novelty anniversary souvenirs and t-shirts featuring vintage Epcot logos are available for purchase. For those who don’t know, Epcot is my favorite park. It was Walt’s dream to see this idea become a reality, and I believe Epcot has inspired generations of global citizens to rethink our “Future World” and “World Showcase” including me! We’ve seen Epcot grow and develop in its 35 years, and I am hopeful that the future of the park will be as bright as its beginnings.

Walt Disney World archivists uncovered a promotional video, “The Dream Called EPCOT” from the early 1980s, which they shared on their Disney Parks Blog yesterday. If you haven’t had a chance to watch this video, check it out below! It is an amazing throwback and reminder of the pavilions of yore. I certainly miss a few of them! And those who visited Epcot in the ’80s and ’90s will enjoy seeing their old favorites.

Happy Anniversary, Epcot! “For today holds the challenge / To make this world a better place to be /New Horizons for you and for me.”

Until next time, Will Run (and celebrate) for Disney!
