May Intentions

And just like that, April went by in a FLASH! Phew! April is one of the busiest months of the year for me and I’m happy to be on the other side of it all. Here were my April goals:

Successfully complete April event season: our 350+ seated gala went off without a hitch, we raised some critical support for the organization, and it was a beautiful party! Then a few short days later it was full steam Boston Marathon: what a sopping, wet mess of a day. Despite the tough conditions, all of my runners FINISHED and were in high spirits. Marathon weekend is an exciting time to be in Boston. I love the energy visitors bring with them as they explore our city. April events officially DONE!

Build my running baseMy hectic work schedule inhibited me from really pushing myself this month, but I did manage to get in some great workouts, and I ran in the B.A.A. 5K. It wasn’t a PR but it was a perfect day. (Sorry, marathoners!)

Have fun! I celebrated my birthday with my mom in New York City, we saw the Frozen musical, ate all our favorite foods, and had a blast exploring the city together. I came home to friends and family, presents and well-wishes. Oh, and Tommy made me a homemade surprise dinner and ordered my favorite birthday cake. Can’t beat that!

Overall it was a great month. But as you can see, I’ve been going a million miles a minute. Even though a part of me dreads the beginning of April, it always seems to come and go so quickly. Onto May! This to me really signifies the END of winter (officially.) and our tiny glimpse of spring, straight into summer.

May Intentions:

Now that I’m 29, I want to make this last year of my twenties REALLY count. At the risk of making huge goals that may not stick, I’m choosing to be intentional day by day, week by week, month by month. This month, my goals are the following:

Become more comfortable with finances : I need to be a big girl and really take control of my finances. No more student checking accounts (LOL!) I want to come up with some long-term goals, learn how to manage my money more wisely, and invest in the future. Why didn’t we learn this in college again?

Build that marathon base: long runs and speed workouts are my friend! I’ve already seen so much progress and can’t wait to see what this month will bring. My coach continues to encourage me and push me beyond whatever I thought possible. Five months ’till Chicago!

Prepare for summer trips:Walt Disney World! Summer will be here before you know it, which means it’s time to plan summer trips and outings! Tommy and I are heading to Walt Disney World for Memorial Day Weekend for a quick trip. We want to check out the Flower and Garden Festival before it closes, and catch a glimpse at the new Toy Story Land (hoping for a soft opening!). It will also be the one year anniversary of the opening of Pandora – World of AVATAR. Maybe there will be some kind of anniversary celebration? Can’t wait to find out!

Thanks for following along! What are your personal goals for May?
