Stay Safe, Everyone!

Hurricanes are no joke. For those of us in the northeast, we experience annoyingly humid days and some occasional rainstorms and strong winds, but that’s nothing compared to how pummeled the southeast can get. Thinking of all my friends in Florida and hope everyone follows important safety instructions ordered by their towns and districts.

While no park closures have been announced yet, last year during Hurricane Matthew, Walt Disney World closed. This was one of only four days the resort has ever closed, including September 15, 1999 for Hurricane Floyd, September 4 and September 5, 1999 for Hurricane Frances (1999 was quite the year apparently!), and September 26, 2004 for Hurricane Jeanne. On September 11, 2001, the parks were evacuated for a short 30 minutes before resuming service.

To those at Walt Disney World, or those who are in the process of traveling to Walt Disney World, I advise you to continue watching the weather reports, check airline statuses, re-book arrangements if necessary, and follow updates from the Walt Disney World Resort. Also review their weather and refund policy.

Stay safe out there, everyone!

Race Recap – 2017 Disneyland 10K with Guest Blogger, Rebecca

Hello, fellow WRFD readers,

I’m back on the East Coast and still on a high from my 5 days out west. Jake and I just hung up our Disneyland 10K medals and bibs with pride! I learned a lot about the ins and outs of the Disneyland races, and I’ll be sharing some tips here as well.

Hi everyone!

Happy Labor Day weekend! This weekend marks the start of the runDisney 2017-2018 race calendar and we kicked things off with the Pixar-themed Disneyland Half Marathon. Congratulations to all runners who participated in the #DisneylandHalf race weekend! Despite the California heat wave with sizzlin’ hot race conditions I hope you all had an ‘Incredible’ weekend.

In the world of runDisney news, here’s what you may have missed:

Hi friends!

The last full week of August is officially over. I can’t believe it! Back-to-school is a reality for students here in the northeast and some are even in the throws of “double sessions” trying out for their sports teams- I definitely do not miss those!

Friday, August 25 was the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of the season! It is officially fall at the Walt Disney World Resort. And this week is the Disneyland Half Marathon race weekend! Check out what runDisney news you may have missed:

Just Announced: 2017 Candlelight Processional Narrators

Disney Parks Blog just announced the names of some of the narrators for the 2017 Candlelight Processional. If you are planning a holiday vacation to Walt Disney World Resort and have never experienced the Candlelight Processional, it is a must-see. The Candlelight Processional is a live, holiday show in the America Gardens Theater at Epcot’s World Showcase. Featuring a spectacular, gigantic local choir and full-piece orchestra, the show celebrates the spirit of the season with family-favorite Christmas songs and stories.

Keep in mind, this is a spiritual, somber yet friendly atmosphere. I am always blown away by how beautiful the entire production is, and how reverent and humbled the narrator is by participating in this special event.

Show times this year will take place at 5:00PM, 6:45PM and 8:15PM. Dining packages are available. See the Walt Disney World website for details.

Processional narrators to-date:

  • Nov. 24- 26 – To Be Announced
