And just like that, summer is over. While it was a hot and humid season, and I’m not necessarily sad summer is over, change is always hard for me. BUT, fall is my favorite season and Tommy and I have so many fun and exciting plans. For starters…WE ARE ENGAGED! Tommy proposed to me on September 1st in Maine, which was a complete surprise to me. While I want to revel in this special time, I have a tendency to get anxious about planning, and future, and finances. SO, my original September intentions would have looked much different, but now given our huge, exciting news, I need to prioritze. With that, here are my intentions for September:

September Intentions

–Relax. Enjoy the engagement. I am already rushing into wedding planning and getting dizzy every night thinking about all of the logistics. Beyond the minutiae details like centerpieces and napkin colors, planning the bones of a wedding is HARD. I plan events for a living. I know how much work goes into an event. And I know how much money goes into an event. I’m trying not to freak out. I need to accept my feelings, get through some of the bigger details, and look forward to what I care about the most: a future with the love of my life!

–Lock down finances. Okay, I know I have had this as a goal in the past but now it’s really time to get serious. We need to determine our financial goals as a couple, and figure out how we are going to get there. Time to save and hunker down!

– Oh yeah, and I’m still marathon training through all of this! Since I’m a bit late to write this post, I have since completed my longest training run, the 20-miler, and it’s all downhill from here until race day in less than one month. I can’t wait to visit Chicago and show Tommy around. This trip and this marathon has been many months in the making (I started early training in March!)

I’m excited, anxious, and believe that the best is yet to come. I need to relax. Maybe run. Definitely both.
