Will Run for Disney’s 2017 Reflections and Goals for 2018

The end of 2017 is nigh! I can’t believe it’s already that time of year- a time of reflection, gratitude, and bracing oneself for the peak of winter. Instead of “resolutions” I prefer to look at my year’s accomplishments, and goals for the New Year. I was looking at my 2016-2017 goals and accomplishments post and can’t believe how far I’ve come in the past year with my running journey. It’s amazing how one step, one run, one week, one month, adds up to goals I never thought possible.

WDW Marathon Training Update: B.A.A. Half Marathon and a Lesson in Humility

Hi friends!

We have 13 weeks until the WDW Marathon! To celebrate the “halfway” mark in training, I participated in the B.A.A. Half Marathon today. It wasn’t my best race – in fact, it was my worst to date. I’m really disappointed that it’s still quite warm and humid up here in Boston. That definitely threw me off today. Where the heck is fall?! Despite the disappointing performance today, I will not let this affect me mentally for marathon training. For a lesson in humility, here’s what my training week leading up to the race looked like:

Race Recap: 2017 B.A.A. 10K

Hi friends & Happy Summer!

I kicked off summer ’17 with the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) 10K, the second event of three events in the B.A.A. Distance Medley. I ran the 5K in April and plan on running the half marathon in October!

For those of you considering a trip to Boston, I highly recommend planning a race weekend around one of these B.A.A. races. People of all ages and abilities are welcome, but as you can imagine it is a fast course, with even faster elites at the front. Some of the best athletes in the world come out for the B.A.A. races and it is so exciting to be in the same field as them. And I’m somewhere in the middle! Here’s my recap:

Race Recap: 2017 B.A.A. 5K

Boston Marathon weekend is arguably most Bostonians’ favorite weekend of the year: spring is starting to feel REAL after months of cold and snow, and the sun shines bright for our Boston Marathon guests from around the world.

Since I’m a charity coordinator for a Boston Marathon team and have plenty of other work obligations in April, I am so busy that I typically let my running fall by the wayside. This year I decided to make training a priority, especially knowing I have to stay in good running shape for my first marathon – the 2018 Walt Disney World Marathon! As a result, I signed up for the B.A.A. 5K, on Saturday, April 15th. This was a particularly special day to race, as April 15th is also known in Boston as One Boston Day, a tribute to the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings. It is a reflective day, but also one of hope and togetherness.
